This book is about a boy named Will who wants to become a battle cadet but instead becomes a ranger. Will's father fought against wargals but unfortunately died and his mother died in childbirth. Will is now a rangers apprentice to Halt, one of the fifty well trained rangers. Halt teaches Will how to use a bow and arrow, a blending cloak and also a stubborn pony named Tug. Now with all of those trusty weapons will Will be able to defeat the Wargals and the Kalkara? I would rate this book 8 out of 10. I would recommend this book for people who really enjoy adventurous stories. (David, Yr 8)
